BANGKOK, Dec 7 - A Thai civil society network called for the cancellation of the US$3.8 billion Xayaburi dam project in the Lao PDR, saying it would affect local residents’ way of life over a large area, destroying the ecosystem while posing a danger to 41 fish species along the Mekong River and its tributaries.
